Grant Proposal Writing: Complete proposal to institutional funders, including initial letter of interest if required, project or program budget, budget narrative, and other supporting information.

Foundation Relations: Contact with foundation representatives to prepare for the submission of a proposal, establish a “funding fit”, or review and maintain an existing relationship.

Grant Report Writing: Interim and final reports to foundations or other institutional funders; based on collaboration with client staff to establish progress toward grant award objectives.

Development and Grant-Seeking Materials: Letters of Interest, Cases for Support, Grant Templates, and Development/Communications materials.

Grant Prospect Research: Complete project includes identifying a range of foundation or government funding opportunities to match an organization or program, including comparable past awards and eligibility information.

Grant Management & Strategy: Tracking deadlines and grant award expenditures, preparing an annual or multi-year grant calendar for an organization.

Program Evaluation: Systematic analysis of program design or logic, implementation, outcomes and cost.

Strategic Planning: Collaborative assessment, based on long-term goals and funding requirements

 

Fee, Contract, Scope of Work

Fees for services are generally assessed on a project cost basis. For example, preparing and submitting a simple foundation grant application will typically cost $500-600. Very small projects can be accommodated at an hourly rate of $80.

Initial consultation and estimates gladly provided. All services are performed under contract, to include a detailed and specific scope of work agreed between the client and LM Grant.

 

About

Monte Bohna, PhD, has worked in nonprofit fundraising since 2015, for organizations devoted to international citizen diplomacy, the performing arts and arts education, community health initiatives, childhood welfare, civic education, and K-8 education, primarily in the greater Pittsburgh and Philadelphia regions.

He has held full-time salaried positions as Development Officer, Director of Development and Outreach, Foundation Relations Officer, and Director of Grants and Foundation Relations. In the course of a career planning and leading fundraising for nonprofit organizations, he has raised several millions of dollars, securing grant awards ranging from $1,000 to $1,000,000 from foundations of both national and regional scope, from family foundations, and from state and local government agencies.

Born and raised in western Oregon, he has lived in three countries on two continents. He holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Management with a concentration in nonprofit management and fundraising from the University of Pittsburgh (where he taught for many years), and the doctorate of philosophy in history from the University of Rochester.
